Description
My research comprises several distinct strands of research in the soft matter realm, including development of new stimuli-responsive polymers, 3D fabrication technologies, micro-fabrication of polymeric actuators & sensors, and development of smart micro-vehicles.Projects
- Title
- Artificial micro-vehicles with life-like behaviour (ChemLife)
- Summary
- The ChemLife project seeks to develop new bio-inspired microscopic vehicles fabricated from stimuli-responsive materials using advanced 3D fabrication technologies. - Title
- The Development of Chemopropulsion-based Fluidic Transport Systems
- Summary
- This project signifies a curious meeting of intriguing chemistry and biomimicry, allowing for the motion of microscopic droplets, which behave like cargo-carrying vesicles found in biology. This work has tremendous implication for the area of molecular diagnostics and biological analysis, as the concept combines the field of droplet microfluidics (possibility for DNA amplification, polymerase chain reaction and sensitive detection of rare mutant DNA) with a precise optical control of the process. Light provides contactless stimulation, biocompatibility and a non-invasive and highly precise control of these vehicles in both time and space.
