  Summary

  This project will establish a dedicated zebrafish research facility within Trinity College Dublin"s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, creating a shared research infrastructure to support interdisciplinary biomedical and pharmaceutical research. The facility will provide researchers with access to a versatile and cost-effective vertebrate model that offers significant advantages for investigating human health and disease.
  
  Zebrafish are increasingly important in biomedical research because of their genetic similarity to humans, rapid development, external fertilisation, optical transparency and high genetic tractability. Their transparent embryos allow developmental processes to be observed in real time, providing an exceptional model for studying embryogenesis, organogenesis, tissue regeneration and other fundamental biological processes. Advances in genome-editing technologies further enable precise investigation of gene function and molecular pathways relevant to human disease.
