Welcome from the EEDI Committee
The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is committed to fostering an environment where equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion are actively embraced, and where all staff and students can flourish.
Our EEDI Committee and Athena Swan Self-Assessment Team (SAT), made up of academic, research, professional and support staff, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate student representatives, work collaboratively across the School and with the School Executive Committee to raise awareness of barriers to EEDI, address challenges specific to our discipline, and implement strategies that support meaningful and lasting change.
The School received the Athena Swan Bronze Award in November 2022 in recognition of our commitment to advancing gender equality and inclusivity across academic, research, and professional service roles, and we are now working towards Bronze renewal by building on our progress and honestly confronting the challenges that remain.
The committee meets regularly to monitor our Gender Action Plan, review progress on key actions, and respond to issues raised by staff and students, supported by working groups focused on policy and governance, career development, flexible working and family leave, and outreach and engagement, each of which reports back to ensure responsibility for EEDI work is shared across the committee.
If you would like to draw attention to any EEDI issues, share suggestions for improvement, get involved in our work, or ask questions about our current initiatives, please contact our Director, Oliviero Gobbo.
