We are very grateful to Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill for joining us to mark World Gynaecological Oncology Awareness Day on 20th September, 2026.
Earlier diagnosis means improved outcomes for women affected by cancer and it's important to remember the role of pharmacists, communities and researchers in helping women recognise symptoms and seek advice.
Dr Sharon O'Toole (pictured, right), who is co-investigator at the All-Ireland Cancer Liquid Biopsies Consortium (CLuB) and President of The Irish Society for Gynaecological Oncology has worked with Yvonne O'Meara (pictured, left) to amplify patient voices and ensure that awareness of all five gynaecological cancers remains an All-Ireland priority.
Their research highlights that only 37% of women surveyed were aware of vulval cancer, demonstrating why campaigns such as Know The Five are so important.
