Student Unions, Clubs & Societies

Trinity College is home to a vast array of some 120 different student societies, clubs and volunteer groups, which the College supports actively as a key component of the Trinity student experience. Student societies are organised by students for students, (and sometimes staff also) , with something for everyone to pursue their interests and become involved in the college community.

The Students Union   is the  sole representative organisation for undergraduate students of Trinity College. The function of the Students Union is to represent its members to College, the University and other bodies. It is recognised as such by the Board of Trinity College. The Students Union also works on the academic, social and welfare needs of its members, and for this purpose employs 5 full-time Sabbatical Officers to look after these areas of student life at Trinity College.

The Graduate Students’ Union is the representative body for graduate students in Trinity College, Dublin.  Although the GSU is an independent body, all registered graduate students of the College automatically become members.

The Union’s primary duty is to represent the postgraduate community, which it does with active involvement at every level of College governance, in addition to their roles in graduate student advocacy,  encouraging a sense of community in the graduate student body through events organisation, and peer support and information.
