  • Trinity Centre for Gender Equality and Leadership (TCGEL) is launched by the Chancellor of the University of Dublin, Dr Mary Robinson, at a special event in the magnificent Regent's House on 11th October 2017.

  • Members of the Trinity ad hoc group on Cultural and Ethnic Minorities enjoyed a very interesting presentation (Word doc) and discussion with Professor Aida Idris, University of Malaya, and Visiting Professor at the School of Education In TCD 2015-2017, in relation to her recently completed research study of international students' experience of cultural inclusiveness in TCD.
  • Pride 2017 - Trinity is delighted to have partnered with BeLonG To Youth Services and Youth Work Ireland -who facilitated the largest ever single group of young people marching under one banner ‘Transforming LGBT+ Lives’ at Pride 2017 - in hosting some 300 young people in College for a PRIDE Breakfast. The young people were also joined by members from both QSoc and the Trinity LGBT Staff Network who enjoyed perhaps the loudest and most colourful breakfast served in Trinity for many a year!   • is launched as an on line education resource for families of transgender young people in the Republic of Ireland in May is the first evidence-based online education programme of its kind and it is hoped that it will help families by providing appropriate information to help them support both their family,and their transgender family member.
  • International Women's Week is being celebrated in College from 6th -10th March with a terrific schedule of free events, including screenings, talks, campaigns, coffee mornings,and charity events. The Week is an annual festival celebrating women's achievements and promoting gender equality, coordinated by the Equality Office, with all events organised and run by Trinity staff and students.

  • Trinity celebrates success and recognition as an LGBT inclusive workplace at the GLEN Workplace Equality Index Awards 2016 on 20th September 2016.
  • Exciting new EU funded project on Systemic Action for Gender Equality (SAGE) kicks off in Trinity on 8th/9th September 2016. Under the coordination of the Trinity Centre for Gender Equality and Leadership, the SAGE (Systemic Action for Gender Equality) project will devise and implement a series of transformational interventions to advance gender equality in seven European universities. The objective of this 36 month project is to produce a proven model that can be implemented throughout the European research sector. The SAGE partners are: Centre for Women in Science & Engineering Research (WiSER), Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, acting as coordinator; Universit√† degli Studi di Brescia, Italy ; Kadir Has University, Turkey; Instituto Universit√°rio De Lisboa, Portugal; Sciences Po Bordeaux, France; International University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Queen’s University Belfast, UK, acting as evaluator.

  • Landmark LGBTIReland Report by Trinity research team is launched by Dr Mary MacAleese on 22nd March. Congratulations to Professor Agnes Higgins, and her research team in the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
  • Trinity hosts successful GLEN annual International Women's Day Luncheon in the Dining Hall. Vice Provost welcomed LBT women, and allies, to a packed event which celebrated the achievements of lesbian, bisexual and trans (LBT) leaders in business, academia and human rights, and discussed how to advance visibility and participation of LBT women of all levels in the workplace.

  • The establishment of a Trinity LGBT Staff Network is underway, with the lead in to launch marked at a very successful Trinity Rainbow Celebration in the Atrium on 2nd February.

  • Marriage Equality legally commences in Ireland from Monday 16th November. A wealth of information, including guidance on the various options people have in relation to civil partnership and civil marriage in a number of different situations is accessible on the GLEN website
