The University offers a comprehensive induction and orientation resources for new staff members, while Trinity Global offers further resources specific to the unit: 

  • Blended Working: TCD has a policy on Blended Working, which allows staff to combine work from campus with remote work in line with business needs. 
  • Meeting Hours Policy: Trinity endorses the principle that meetings will, as far as possible, be held within the hours of 10.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday. Meetings outside these hours should be the exception rather than the rule. 
  • After Hours Email: Trinity Global staff are not expected to work outside normal business hours on a routine basis.  We aim to foster an environment where people can disconnect at the end of the day. To maintain this we ask our staff to: 
  • Avoid sending emails outside of office hours where possible. Hold back non-urgent emails for the next working day. 
  • Use the Outlook delayed delivery function if you choose to send non-urgent emails. 
  • Leave Policies: TCD has a number of policies relating to family and carers leave, career breaks, shorter working year scheme and sick leave which can be found on the Human Resources A-Z website. 
  • Policies related to overseas based staff will differ to that given above and is established in collaboration with the local partner organisation. 

Trinity Global recognises and values the personal and organisational benefits of professional development and is committed to ensuring all staff have access to growth opportunities. Line managers and employees are encouraged to embed regular professional development conversations into their meetings.  

Within the wider university, training and development opportunities include: 

  • Linked In Learning: LinkedIn Learning is an online skills development service for Trinity staff and students, providing an extensive library of high-quality video courses (over 5,000) in professional and personal skills. 
  • HR Training: Trinity HR provide a rolling catalogue of online and in-person professional development courses for Trinity Employees. 
  • Aurora: Aurora is a women’s leadership programme with opportunities to develop capabilities, skills, and networks to support their advancing careers. 
  • Erasmus + Staff Mobilities: The Erasmus+ programme offers staff the opportunity to undertake a mobility, which may take the form of a short secondment, job-shadowing or attendance at workshops, courses or a staff training week.  
  • Other Trinity Training: Various units within Trinity provide subject-specific training to Trinity staff and students including: CAPSL, IT Services, and the library 

Additional training requests linked to professional development and role are considered on a case-by-case basis. Speak to your line manager. 

The University offers resources for both staff and student parents based on the Dublin campus: 

  • Leave policies for parents: TCD has a number of family policies relating to maternity, paternity, adoption, and parental leave, which can be found on the Human Resources website. 
  • Childcare facilities: TCD has an on-site day nursery, which is open to children of both staff and students. This service is available from 8am to 6pm during term time, and 8am to 5:15pm during summertime. 
  • Breastfeeding support: TCD has a policy to support Breastfeeding. Staff who are breastfeeding can take one hour per day to do so until the child is two years old. 

Trinity has a number of services staff and students can use to report issues related to bullying, harassment and discrimination: 

  • Dignity, Respect and Consent: TCD has a Dignity, Respect and Consent Service. This Service supports Staff, Students, and Others in matters relating to dignity, respect, and consent. It includes processes for disclosing and resolving issues through both informal and formal means. 
  • Speak Out: Speak Out allows an individual to make an anonymous report to the University regarding incidents that they have either experienced or witnessed. Speak Out can then direct you to appropriate help and support and will also use your report to enhance its efforts to eliminate bullying, harassment, and sexual misconduct.  

Trinity has a number of EDI training options for both staff and students which are reviewed and updated regularly. These include: 

EDI in Higher Education:  This aims to raise awareness of equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights issues, alongside Irish equality and human rights legislation. While all staff are encouraged to take the training, it is compulsory for all staff sitting on recruitment interview panels. 

Let's talk about race training: This is open to both staff and students. It looks at racism in a higher education context, including how it can operate in more systemic and less visible ways. 

Unconscious Bias Training Unconscious bias describes unconscious associations that we hold which can have a significant influence on our attitudes and behaviour. A number of training opportunities are offered on the EDI website.

  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: The EDI Office  works across the University to foster a safe, representative, engaging community. Their website offers information on Trinity services and activities across the nine equality grounds. 
  • Employee Assistance Programme: The Employee Assistance Programme provides University staff and their immediate family with counselling and well-being services. 
  • Student Counselling Service: Alongside in-person counselling for students, the Counselling Service provides a range of online resources to support the mental well being of the Trinity Community
