Trinity Global's EDI team works to maintain a representative, equitable and welcoming environment for our staff, students, partners, and all individuals we come into contact with. As part of these goals the Unit became the first professional unit to receive an Athena Swan award in Ireland in 2024.
Trinity Global: Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion
Building on the institutional success of Trinity College Dublin, which holds an Institutional Silver Athena Swan Award, Trinity Global is committed to advancing equality and inclusion within our international operations.
In 2024, Trinity Global became the first professional service unit in Ireland to be recognised with its own Bronze Athena Swan Award. This milestone reflects our alignment with the university’s broader mission to identify and remove systemic barriers for staff and students alike.
Our participation in the Athena Swan framework is driven by a comprehensive four-year action plan designed to foster a more inclusive and transparent workplace. By embedding these principles into our global engagement strategies, we aim to ensure that Trinity remains a representative and equitable environment for our diverse community of international students, staff, and partners.
Athena Swan Award
Athena Swan (AS) is a charter designed to promote fairness in the University sector in terms of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Athena Swan provides a structure to help units within the university to identify and fix potential issues and to create a positive environment for all.
In 2024, Trinity Global became the first professional unit in Ireland to be recognised with its own Bronze Athena Swan Award. This milestone reflects our alignment with the university’s broader mission to identify and remove systemic barriers for staff and students alike. It recognises Trinity Global’s commitment to ensuring that equality is at the heart of all it does, and it follows a detailed self-assessment process.
Our participation in the Athena Swan framework is driven by a comprehensive four-year action plan designed to foster a more inclusive and transparent workplace. Trinity Global, via its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDIC), is now working through this action plan to drive forward targeted changes in priority areas.
Our vision is to embed equality and inclusion at the core of Trinity Global’s activities. To meet this goal, the unit established an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDIC) committee in late 2024 to replace the previous Athena Swan self-assessment team (ASSAT).
The EDIC Committee aims to:
- Ensure that dignity, respect, equity, and equality is the lived experience of individuals who interact with Trinity Global.
- Implement the action plan as set in our Athena Swan Bronze application.
- Develop mechanisms to engage and report to the College’s EDI structures.
- Prepare for a future Trinity Global Athena Swan Silver Award application.
- Support applications for future Athena Swan awards in Trinity and other institutions.
To implement our action plan and to reach our goals as set out above, we have established several working groups dedicated to specific pillars of our four-year action plan. These groups include:
- Students: Scholarships & Mobility
- Students: Student Facing Activities
- Staff: Recruitment and On-Boarding
- Staff: Experience and Professional Development
- Marketing and Communications
Through these targeted efforts, we aim to foster an equitable environment where both our staff and our diverse student community can thrive.
