Researchers from the DDUH Oral Biosciences lab and First Year Dental Hygiene students ran 'Say Hello to Your Oral Microbiome' workshops for primary school pupils last week.

Our mouths contain billions of microbes, and the pupils were amazed when we took their own plaque and showed it to them under the microscope. Afterwards, they learned about the importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with the bacteria in their mouths through good diet and oral hygiene practices.

A big thank you to our budding scientists from Marist Primary School in Crumlin, Co. Dublin, DDUH Professor Gary Moran, and to Warren Farrell from Trinity Access Programmes for organising the visit.
