Trinity's Virtual Learning Environment

Blackboard
Blackboard Learn, accessed at mymodule.tcd.ie allows academic staff to deliver online and blended modules to students. Staff can add other learning technologies such as Panopto, Turnitin etc. through their Blackboard module.

Bb Ally
Blackboard Ally helps you make your module more inclusive by highlighting accessibility issues with content you upload to your module. Ally also allows students to download material in a range of formats.

Bb Assignments
Blackboard assignments allow you to provide feedback using rubrics and annotations. Blackboard assignments support group submissions and delegated marking.

Bb Discussions
Blackboard discussions provide a space for students to discuss topics. As a lecturer you can create a discussion forum in your module and also grade individual students on their contributions to the forum.

Bb Tests
Support assessment practices with your students using frequent, low-stakes online tests and Knowledge Checks in Blackboard.

Collaborate
Class Collaborate is a web conferencing program that lets you host virtual classrooms from within Blackboard with your students and communicate with them via voice, video, lecture slides and text chat.

Turnitin
Turnitin is integrated into Blackboard. Teaching staff can use Turnitin to provide multimodal feedback on assignments in a range of ways including using annotations, rubrics and voice recordings.

Panopto
You can use Panopto to create videos for your students to support flexible and innovate teaching approaches. Panopto is available through Blackboard so you can easily create, upload, edit and publish videos through your web browser.

Vevox
TCDpolls, powered by Vevox, allows staff to create polls and surveys to enhance student engagement and feedback during lectures.
Other Learning Technologies
The technologies listed below allow you to create more advanced multimedia material for use within your Blackboard module. Licences are available for purchase through College via Micromail. For some programs such as Camtasia, you can try a 30-day trial to see if they are of use to you before purchasing a licence.
→ Please note, neither IT Services or the Centre for Academic Practice provide training/support for these tools.

Adobe
Adobe Creative Cloud includes advanced editing tools such as Photoshop, Adobe Premiere. You can also purchase a subscription for Adobe Stock separately for licencing images from their stock library.

Articulate
Articulate lets you create presentations with a range of interactive elements - for example, scenarios and quizzes. These presentations can be uploaded and integrated with Blackboard's Grade Centre and Analytics features.

Camtasia
Camtasia allows you to create and edit videos using more advanced features than those available in Panopto while still maintaining an intuitive interface. You can then upload your created videos into your Blackboard's Panopto folder.
