Annual VMSG meeting coming to Trinity

TCD Geology are will host the annual meeting of the Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group (VMSG) on 6-8 January 2016. The meeting is expected to attract 200+ delegates to Dublin for some exciting talks, including keynotes from Guido Giordano (Università Degli Studi Roma Tre, Italy), Jon Blundy (University of Bristol) and Vicki Smith (University of Oxford). We will also award host the Hallimond lecture, given by David Pyle (University of Oxford and have an invited talk from Ian Saginor (Keystone College, USA) on Improving Volcanic Hazard Education with 3D Printed Models.
The meeting is preceded by a full-day analytical workshop dedicated to 2-dimensional trace element mapping of igneous minerals by laser-ablation ICP-MS. The conference will by followed on Saturday 9th January by a fieldtrip to the iconic Giant’s Causeway (World heritage Site) in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
