Herbarium Library

Trinity College Dublin herbarium is home to one of the most complete botanical reference libraries in Europe.

Our principal holdings are floras, botanical reference works, journals, reprints, and a significant archive related to the history of the herbarium and Trinity Botanic Garden. We also hold a large collection of microfiche, modern and historic maps, digital material, and exsiccatae.

All volumes and journals housed within the herbarium have been accessioned into the herbarium database under the project Transforming Trinity's Herbarium. This database is publicly available here. Selected journal volumes and books are available for loan to researchers based in or visiting the college at the discretion of the Herbarium Curator. To consult the archive; our rare, valuable or fragile volumes; or reprints; or any books or journal volumes that are not available for loan, please contact the curator: Dr Peter Moonlight.
