Green Week started in 2003 to honour the late Professor Simon Perry, who started the College Recycling and Environment Committee, now known as the Green Campus Committee. After his untimely passing in 2002, the Green Campus Committee decided to hold the first Trinity Green Week in his honour, and the College’s Green Week has grown in strength every year since.

Green Week is held annually in the Spring, when we have dozens of events that span a wide range of topics, from circular economy to biodiversity to climate action to activism and health.  We have hosted esteemed guests such as former President Mary Robinson and Senator David Norris for the launch of Green Week, which carries the theme 'Healthy Planet, Healthy People'.

A highlight of the week is when we celebrate the sustainable leaders among us at the annual Sustainability Leadership Awards.  We always have a variety of talks, workshops and hands-on experiences to bring the community together.

Green Week is organised by Trinity Sustainability in collaboration with the Green Campus Committee, Students' Union Environmental Officer and any staff or students that would like to get involved.

Email Sustainability@tcd.ie if you'd like to plan your own event for Green Week or get involved in any way!
