Solidification

The Solidification research group conducts research on experimental, numerical and theoretical modelling and analysis of solidification processes. They are interested in the solidification of metallic and non-metallic alloys and pure materials; specifically, this group has carried out research relating to eutectic aluminium-silicon alloys and peritectic gamma titanium-aluminide alloys. There is a particular focus on numerical modelling of solidification processes related to Bridgman solidification, using front tracking methods, and verification and validation of same. The group has collaborated with several International Universities and Research Centres to conduct their research, for example, the European Space Agency, Access e.V, University of Lorraine, the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
