Project Title

Unravelling local-scale controls on the distribution of magmatic Ni-Cu-Au-(PGE) mineralisation

Postgraduate Research Summary

I began my PhD in September 2025 after graduating from the Geoscience course at Trinity in June 2024. During my undergraduate studies I developed a keen interest in igneous petrology, structural geology and volcanology.

My current work is co-funded by Karelian Diamond Resources PLC, an exploration/mining company. The aim of this project is to investigate the magmatic origin of anomalous chromite (an indicator of PGEs) found in dykes on company licence areas and to interrogate the geological implications of this highly unusual mineralisation.

Name of Supervisor(s)

Dr Mike Stock, Dr Mark Cooper (Geological Survey of Northern Ireland)

Project Start Date

September 1st 2025

Funding

Research Ireland Enterprise Partnership scheme, co-funded by Karelian Diamond Resources PLC.
