Research Projects
Environmental monitoring and protection
Research in this theme focuses on understanding environmental change through the study of air, water, land, and ecosystems. It includes environmental monitoring, contaminant pathways, water supply, greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity, and the recovery and protection of ecosystem health. The Centre also supports analytical and field-based research through specialist laboratories and monitoring equipment.
Environment and society
This theme explores the human dimensions of environmental change, including governance, science-policy communication, sustainability, human health, and the social implications of environmental pressures. Our research examines how communities, institutions, and decision-makers respond to environmental challenges, and how more just, equitable, and sustainable futures can be supported through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Climate and environment
A central strand of the Centre’s work addresses climate change and its interactions with natural systems, and sustainability. Research in this area considers natural variability, biogeochemical processes, climate impacts, adaptation, mitigation, and innovation for cleaner and more resilient futures. Through this work, the Centre contributes to evidence-based solutions for climate action and environmental sustainability.
