Assoc. Prof. Barton elected to RIA

Congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Ruth Barton, Head of School, School of Creative Arts on being elected to the Royal Irish Academy. The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann is run by a Council of its members.

Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland. The Academy has been honouring Ireland's leading contributors to the world of learning since its establishment in 1785 and those elected by their peers are entitled to use the designation 'MRIA' after their name. Assoc. Prof. Barton is widely acknowledged as the world expert on Irish Cinema in both the silent and sound eras.
