Using GenAI in Teaching and Learning: How to do it right? (Self Study)

Funded by the HEA/National Forum, this flexible 25-hour self-paced course is currently available for self-enrolment.

Designed to introduce the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy, this course will help you explore what, how, and when to incorporate Generative AI (GenAI) into your teaching, learning, and assessment practices.

This is a fully self-directed learning experience, allowing you to engage at your own pace and on your own schedule.

Module Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand key GenAI terminology, especially in the context of higher education
  • Evaluate the use of AI in teaching, learning and assessment with a focus on ‘what, why and how’
  • Reflect on pedagogical practices that meaningfully integrate GenAI within your discipline
  • Design and embed GenAI strategies into your teaching, learning and assessment practices

A step by step enrolment guide

  1. Log in to Blackboard
  2. Click on Modules in the left-hand menu
  3. Click on Module Catalogue at the top right of the Modules page
  4. In the dropdown menu, change 'Name' to 'ID' and enter VP1025B-202425 in the search box and click Go
  5. Hover over the module ID and click the down arrow next to it then Enrol
  6. Click Submit
  7. Click OK at the bottom right of the page
  8. The module will now be on your list of enrolled modules
  9. Visit the Introduction section within the module to get started
