Student Societies

Trinity has more than 120 societies, all of which are run by students for students. Below is a list of relevant societies that may be of interest throughout your time at College.

The School is not directly affiliated with any of the student societies, if you have any queries you should contact the individual society directly. The descriptions below have been copied directly from the Central Societies' Committee webpage.

Established in 1924, the Modern Languages society host a range of events including film screenings, guest speakers, workshops, language cafés where you can come to practice your linguistic abilities. Their main focus are their language classes.

The Germanic Society promotes all things German in Trinity. Their events are focused on creating opportunities for students to practice their German language skills and experience German culture. The annual Oktoberfest event is extremely popular and one of the highlights of their events calendar.

The French Society a vibrant forum where students from all over the world who share a passion and enthusiasm for the French language and culture can meet and socialise! You will find likeminded people in this society, and perhaps even make lifelong friends.

They host a variety of fun French-themed events including wine and cheese soirées, coffee and croissant mornings, language exchanges and many other events online and offline for Francophones and Francophiles alike! Join them to discover more about French culture, to practice and improve your French, and also to meet new people.

Enjoy Hispanic culture? Whether you’re a fan of the humble sombrero, tapas and public tomato fights or are simply looking to improve your language skills and meet some new amigos in college, Trinity Hispanic society offers all of the above.

The Society aims to promote awareness and appreciation of all things Spanish and Latin-American.

An Cumann GaelachIs é an Cumann Gaelach ceann de na cumainn is mó ar champas. An aidhm atá ag an gCumann Gaelach ná an Ghaeilge a spreagadh agus a scaipeadh ar champas agus níos faide. Cuireann an Cumann réimse leathan imeachtaí ar siúl idir céilithe, díospóireachtaí, ceolchoirmeacha, aoichainteoirí, cheardlainn, agus i bhfad níos mó, go léir trí mheán na Gaeilge. Tá fáilte roimh chách, is cuma cén leibhéil Gaeilge atá agat! Bígí linn!

The Cumann Gaelach is the Irish Language society, and aims to promote the language on and off campus. With weekly events that range from debates to recitals, to guest speakers and workshops, we have something for everyone -regardless of your level of Irish!

The Society promotes Eastern European traditions and customs, through social events and discussions.

Europa strives to promote cultural and political diversity, dialogues and connections between Europeans (and all others interested in Europe) at Trinity. No matter what country we come from, our shared European identities allow us to get involved with other Europeans and celebrate what brings us together.

This society encourages uniting Europeans to embrace our various heritages, cultures and languages, as well as to discuss topical issues. Our members will enjoy a range of events including language evenings, foreign film nights, foreign food nights and excursions.

If you want to discover more about European culture and identity, this society is for you!

The Russian Society offers Trinity students a Russian cultural experience that is available to all. Our aim is to introduce and promote students to the Russian culture and language. Events include movie nights, wine tasting and pub crawls, as well as the traditional Chai and Chats which are held every week.

Established in 2024, we invite you to immerse yourself in the vibrant culture, language, and traditions of Ukraine with us. Our society is more than just an organisation, we’re a passionate community dedicated to celebrating and promoting Ukrainian identity. Turkic Society is a vibrant community where people from different ethnic backgrounds across the globe come together to socialise and celebrate Turkic languages and cultures. Our goal is to offer support to our members as they adjust to life in Ireland, overcome homesickness, and create a welcoming community to honour Turkic traditions, history, and cuisine.

We arrange a variety of exciting events, both online and in-person, such as cooking workshops and language exchanges, all inspired by Turkic culture.

A society open to any and everyone that hosts a range of spiritual, educational, social and cultural events with an Islamic central theme. The society is made up mostly of Muslim students, and we aim to provide opportunities and facilities for Muslim students to live out their faith on campus in all aspects of student life.

We also try to educate and invite non-Muslim students to learn and understand more about Muslims and Islam with an aim of promoting unity and communication among our members and the College community.

The Literary Society aims to promote the multifaceted nature of literature, from publishing, to creative writing, to translation. We also provide a space for those who wish to explore such topics in the company of friends.

We run regular events both on and off campus, but we also spend much time drinking tea and discussing books in our society room, the Attic, in House 6.

The Jewish Society serves as a voice of the Jewish community at Trinity and contributes to a greater understanding of Jewish life, tradition and culture on campus. We welcome all members of the college to join us for virtual weekly Shabbat, the Jewish holidays, and our other events relating to Jewish culture.

Whether you want to learn about Judaism and connect with the local community, or find your home away from home in Dublin to celebrate the holidays, feel free to join our friendly community.

The Society aims to bring students together to foster connections and create lasting memories for everyone involved. As a society that organises trips, we have been all around Ireland, from the north of Donegal to the south of Cork. We also organise movie nights, scavenger hunts, game nights and celebrate various international holidays, with input from our members.

We are an active, open community, so if you have any general queries or specific problems related to being an international student, we may be able to help - shoot us a message on our instagram.
