This international symposium on non-redemptive failure across the humanities and social sciences, organised by the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies and the School of Creative Arts and hosted in Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Institute will run on 29th May and 30th May 2025.

This symposium will bring together scholars from across the humanities and social sciences working on failure who seek to find alternative narrative modes of speaking about the subject to the dominant redemptive lens. Rather than seeing failure as a stepping stone to success, a moral victory, or a learning moment worth suffering, participants will ask who gets to tell (and be heard telling) stories of failure—and how.
