Music Composition Centre

Trinity's Music Composition Centre hosts cutting edge public events (lectures, recitals, lecture-recitals) by leading experts in Composition, Musicology and Music Technology. The Centre promotes contemporary composition and it creates an on-going debate about the future of ‘New Music’ throughout the academic year.

In the 25/26 academic year the Music Composition Centre hosted their series in both Trinity's Long Room Hub and Trinity's Common Room featuring guest appearances from  Darragh Morgan (Violin) and Mary Dullea (Piano)  , Xenia Pestova Bennett (Pianist, composer and improvisor), Diego Fasciati & Fergus Sheil ( Irish National Opera), Brian Irvine (Composer), Evis Sammoutis ( Composer).

In 2014 the Music Composition Centre organized the International Composition Conference ‘Composition in the 21st Century’ that featured Sir Harrison Birtwistle and Raymond Deane as the keynote speakers, alongside 65 selected speakers from all over the world. Through consistent presence during the last couple of years, the Music Composition Centre has become a reference point for ‘New Music’ in Trinity as well as the cultural life in Dublin.

Many of our students and graduates are members of the Irish Composers Collective and the Contemporary Music Centre.

The Music Composition Centre was launched in 2012 by Donnacha Dennehy and Dr Evangelia Rigaki. Dr Evangelia Rigaki has been the curator of the Music Composition Centre since 2014. For any information please get in touch by contacting Dr Evangelia Rigaki
