Fernanda Azevedo began her PhD in September 2024, funded by the prestigious Trinity Research Doctorate Award, with the project Ask a Farmer: Socio-ecological Factors Affecting Pollinator Conservation in Agricultural Landscapes. Her research builds on the themes she explored during her MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation at Trinity College Dublin, The University of Dublin from which she graduated with distinction and was a recipient of the E3 Balanced Solution for a Better World Scholarship Award (2022/23).

Fernanda brings a diverse academic background to her current research. She holds a cum laude BSc in Genetics and a Licentiate in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), along with a Postgraduate degree in Sexuality, Race, and Human Rights from the National School of Public Health / Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (ENSP/FIOCRUZ), Brazil.

Her PhD adopts a transdisciplinary approach, integrating ecological and sociological perspectives to enhance pollinator conservation in agricultural landscapes, using the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan as a case study. Her work aims to support more sustainable and equitable relationships between farmers and policymakers while promoting farmer engagement in conservation efforts.

Given the strong alignment between her research objectives and those of the RestPoll project, she is part of the Irish team contributing to a range of activities, including ecological fieldwork, farmer interviews, and stakeholder workshops.
