PhD Skills for Success
What is PhD Skills for Success?
We want to help you develop the skills you need to be a successful PhD researcher while you're here so we have developed a programme that targets what you need for each stage of your research.
The first stage is aimed at new research students and will cover:
- The PhD Pathway - Milestones and what to expect on the journey
- Planning your Thesis
- The Student-Supervisor Relationship
- Developing Resilience
The second stage is aimed at students who have completed their continuation report/exam and will cover
- Promoting your research
- Striving, Not Straining: Managing Perfectionism, Boundaries & Expectations
- Presentation skills
The third stage is aimed at students approaching the end of their thesis and will cover:
- Preparing for your viva
- From Submission to Commencement: What to Expect
Students are welcome to attend any of the sessions, regardless of what stage in the research process they are at.
You will receive a Certificate of Attendance for all sessions that you attend. You can use this to show evidence of doctoral skills training for your Funding Bodies and supervisors
