Which Visiting Student Cohort Do I Belong To?
It is important to understand which Visiting Student cohort you belong to, as this will have an impact on the fee, credit, and paperwork requirements for your time here. Certain Orientation sessions are held specifically for particular Visiting Student cohorts in order to ensure that everyone receives the information that is most relevant for them.
The term 'Visiting Students' refers to all students who study at Trinity for either a single Semester or an Academic Year, but do not complete their degree at Trinity.
Erasmus/EU Visiting Students
- Erasmus Students join us via an Erasmus Exchange Agreement that Trinity has with their home university. They are hosted by a specific School/Department and do not pay fees to Trinity.
- Consortium Students fall under the Erasmus programme but are not hosted by a specific School/Department. They do not pay fees to Trinity. Consortium examples are CHARM, COIMBRA, and ELAN.
- EU Visiting Students are direct entry applicants from an EU university with no Erasmus Exchange Agreement with Trinity. They are required to pay fees.
Non-EU Exchange/Study Abroad Students
- Non-EU Exchange Students come through a Non-EU Exchange Agreement that Trinity has with their home university and do not pay fees.
- Study Abroad Students are direct entry applicants from a non-EU university with no Exchange Agreement with Trinity. They are required to pay fees.
- Students Coming Through An Agency fall under the Study Abroad category, but the agent applies on their behalf and is invoiced for the student's fees.
ID Card Collection
Once you have registered, you are eligible for a Trinity student ID card (TCard). You will collect your ID card from the Orientation Hub in the Exam Hall during Orientation Week.
You can use your TCard to pay at various campus outlets. To top it up, visit tcard.tcd.ie. Please ensure that you are use your username rather than your student ID number or email address when logging in to the TCard Portal.
Orientation Hub
The Orientation Hub will be open in the Exam Hall every day during Orientation Week from 10am-3pm.
As well as being the place to collect your ID Card, the Orientation Hub will have a range of services on site to help you get set up and ready for your first week of class. So, if you have questions for the Academic Registry, IT Services, Trinity Global, the disAbility Service, or other areas, pop in to the Hub and ask!
