Physics
The School of Physics has a long and distinguished history. A convenient starting point is 1710, when it was resolved "that ground be laid out in the south-east corner of the physick garden sufficient for erecting an Elaboratory and anatomical theatre thereupon".Physics lies at the heart of most science and technology. Even modern biology seeks to analyse many of the processes of life in terms of physical laws.
Trinity College Dublin offers four different degree courses in which Physics is a main component:
- Science, Physics
- Science, Physics and Astrophysics
- Theoretical Physics
- Nanoscience, Physics and Chemistry of Advanced Materials
First-year students for all of these undergraduate degrees qualify to apply for a School of Physics Entrance Scholarships.
