The Role of the EDI Committee
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee is a sub-Committee of the School Executive Committee. Its role is
- to provide an effective forum for equality, diversity and inclusion discussions and to raise awareness and understanding of the issues of equality, diversity and inclusion within the School;
- to oversee and monitor the implementation of the School’s equality, diversity and inclusion objectives as defined in the University Strategic Plan and the School’s Athena SWAN Bronze Action Plan;
- to develop EDI strategies for the School, recognizing, in particular the international orientation of the School and the importance of ensuring that EDI considerations are at the heart of all of our activities;
- to review policy and provide strategic advice on EDI matters to the School Executive Committee;
- to engage with the University EDI Unit and Athena SWAN Champions’ Network and disseminate good practice on equality, diversity and inclusion issues in the School;
- to collate and analyse equality, diversity and inclusion data including the generation of an annual report;
- to report to the School Executive annually on all matters relating to equality, diversity and inclusion arising during the year;
- to oversee the preparation and submission of Athena SWAN award renewals.
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee meets once per semester, or more frequently if necessary.

Length of Terms 3 years, with option of renewal for a second term.
