Tá luach €2,000 ar an duais seo, atá urraithe ag an Roinn Oideachais agus Scileanna. Fógraíodh torthaí an chomórtais seo oíche Shathairn seo chaite. Tháinig sé seo ar na sála ar ghradam eile- chuala An Cumann Gaelach gur bhain sé amach an gradam do Feachtas Teanga na Bliana ag gradaim mac léinn Aontas na Mac Léinn in Éirinn an tseachtain seo chaite. Bronnadh an gradam seo i leith fhéile Ghaeilge an Choláiste, Éigse na Tríonóide.

Dúirt Andrew King, Reachtaire an Chumainn i 2012-2013: “Tá sé go hiontach go bhfuil an t-aitheantas tugtha dúinn anois, i ndiaidh na sár-oibre atá déanta againn i mbliana. Ba mhaith liom mo bhuíochas a ghabháil leis na baill agus leis an gcoiste go léir.”

Dúirt Aonghus Dwane, Oifigeach Gaeilge an Choláiste:
“is léiriú iad na gradaim seo ar an bpaisean, fuinneamh agus dúthracht i leith na teanga atá le feiceáil i measc bhaill uile an Chumainn Ghaelaigh- rud a léirítear bliain i ndiaidh bliana.
Tarraingíonn na gradaim seo dea-cháil ar an gColáiste agus tréaslaím leis an Reachtaire agus leis an gCoiste. Bhí bliain iontach ag an Ghaeilge sa choláiste i mbliana agus tá súil again go leanfaidh cúrsaí ag dul ó neart go neart amach anseo!”

Déanfar ceiliúradh ar na gradaim seo ag An Chéadaoin @ An Bhutrach maidin Chéadaoin 24 Aibreán, le ceol, caife agus comhrá i mbialann TCD: 10.30rn-11.30rn. Beidh fáilte is fiche roimh chách bheith inár dteannta.

For the second year in a row, Trinity College’s Cumann Gaelach has scooped the top award for best Irish language student society in the all-island competition run by Glór na nGael. The prize fund is €2,000, sponsored by the Department of Education and Skills.
The results were announced last Saturday night and come hot on the heels of another award- that of best Irish Language Campaign in the Union of Students in Ireland awards, announced last week. The latter award was made in respect of TCD’s Irish language festival Éigse na Tríonóide.

Andrew King, Reachtaire (auditor) of An Cumann Gaelach in 2012-2013, said:
“It is wonderful that this recognition has been given to us now, after the great work done this year. I would like to express my thanks to the members and the entire committee.”

These awards bring great honour to College and I congratulate the Reachtaire and Coiste. Irish had a great year in Trinity this year and we hope to see the language go from strength to strength here in the years ahead!”

These awards will be celebrated at the Wednesday @ The Buttery event on Wednesday morning April 24th, with coffee, music and chat in Trinity’s restaurant, from 10.30 to 11.30am. All are most welcome to this gathering.
