Trinity Publications Fundraising Event

December 2021

Christmas Campaign

This Christmas we’re delighted again to work with Localise National Youth Volunteers to support the 2nd year students at Larkin Community College, Sean McDermott St with their Christmas Campaign to source gifts and essentials(pdf 1MB) for their local Simon Community Homeless Facilities in Dublin's north inner city (Sean McDermott Street, Dorset Street, The Boroughs and Maple Apt. North Circular Road). This is the fifth year of this event and it has been a great success due to the generosity of the staff and students in College. This year is a little different due to the current circumstances however, there are still ways to bring Christmas care to the service users of Dublin Simon Community.More information here.

April 2021

Trinity Publications

In the place of Trinity Publication's annual Alumni Dinner, the Committee has decided in its' place to hold a fundraiser for Women's Aid and SONAS, two charities for domestic abuse and violence survivors in Ireland.

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, many people have suffered in different ways. The pandemic has led to a "shocking" surge of domestic violence and abuse against women and children, and NGOs have reported no signs of this easing over the course of the last few months. 800 requests from women to be taken into refugee to flee domestic violence at home in the last four month of 2020, and these were turned down due to a "lack of space".

While the situation may be worsening, work done by charities for survivors of domestic abuse such as Women's Aid and SONAS do fantastic work in trying to alleviate and help these women, men and children suffering from domestic violence and abuse.

Trinity Publications is calling on Trinity students and alumni who would typically come to our annual Alumni Dinner to instead donate to our fundraiser. We would've all spent money buying an outfit, a few drinks after the dinner, or even on a taxi home for the dinner, so I urge you to donate that instead. While we cannot cure the situation, funding for these charities will go directly to people experiencing domestic abuse.

Trinity Publications will be holding an online-event on 9 April 2021 at 6pm, which will feature literature, poetry and maybe even some music from Trinity students and Trinity Publications Alumni. If you would like to get involved with this event, or you would like to come along, please email me at sconnol1@tcd.ie. While we cannot solve the problem of domestic abuse and violence in our country, we can come together at this difficult time to help those who need it. An event filled with poetry and literature and music will surely brighten all our spirits, and it is for a vital cause.
