On Thursday 9 April, students, staff and employer partners gathered to celebrate achievement at the Trinity Careers Skills Award ceremony, an event recognising students’ commitment to developing their skills and preparing for the workplace. The occasion marked the culmination of a year of learning, engagement and collaboration between students, the Trinity Careers Service and partner employers.

The Trinity Careers Skills Award is a flexible career development programme designed to help undergraduate and postgraduate students build confidence, gain practical workplace skills and develop valuable transferable skills. Running annually from September to March, the Award enables students to engage in a wide range of co‑ and extra‑curricular activities, including employer‑led workshops, site visits, online training, independent learning and reflective practice. Students can tailor their pathway to suit their timetable and interests, with those completing all components and a personal reflection eligible to receive a certificate of completion.

This year, over 350 students participated in the Award, with 46 students (24 undergraduates and 22 postgraduates from across a broad range of disciplines) completing all requirements. Students demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and engagement, often attending events despite challenging weather conditions, and employers consistently praised the insightful and thought‑provoking questions posed by participants.

Trinity's Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Professor Vincent Wade spoke at the ceremony: "I would like to congratulate everyone who participated in the Award pathway this year. Our students showed great enthusiasm about attending the Award events – through floods and storms – and we often exceeded room capacity so we’ll make sure to have more space next year!

"Your level of engagement and preparation was great to see and all employers commented on your insights and the sometimes challenging questions that you asked. However, we had some particularly proactive students who completed their Award way ahead of the deadline so I’d particularly like to note their achievement. This includes:

  • Aman Bansal
  • Chaitanya Sanjay Pimputka
  • Nooran Al Rubaiee
  • Sai Eeshwar Divaakar
  • Tushita Kumar
  • Ummea Salma Hossain

A special acknowledgement was also paid to the vital contribution of employer partners, with thanks extended to Deloitte, Dublin City Council, An Post, Grant Thornton, Version1, the Irish Council for Civil Liberties and the Peter McVerry Trust for their ongoing support.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this year’s Trinity Careers Skills Award a success. Here are some photos from celebratory ceremony:
