Assessment Integrity Clinic: Safeguarding Academic Integrity in an age of Artificial Intelligence (Health Science disciplines)

Date: 11th May 2023

Time:14:00 - 15:00

Venue: Online

Facilitators: Dr Jonny Johnston & Assoc. Prof. Cicely Roche

In Health Science disciplines, generative AI (e.g. ChatGPT) poses particular risks to assessment integrity where students’ mastery of concepts is typically demonstrated through unsupervised and/or narrative assignments. Examples include MCQs, reflective writing, titration calculations, and other assessments that typically feature alongside OSCEs and clinical placements in many Health Science disciplines.

This clinic aims to:

raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities posed by generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, particularly in relation to academic integrity;

  • showcase potential modifications to assessment practices in Health Sciences disciplines in response to these challenges;

  • provide a forum for Health Science colleagues with leadership roles in teaching and learning to discuss ongoing challenges posed by generative AI and to share potential strategies for mitigating these challenges.

This clinic aims to support colleagues with leadership roles in teaching and learning within the Health Science Faculty e.g.  Directors of Teaching and Learning (Postgraduate and Undergraduate), Programme Directors/Coordinators etc. All colleagues within the Faculty are welcome to register.
