ePortfolios for experiential learning: Guided by theory, cultivated by Students

Date: 9 November 2021

Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm

Venue: Online

Facilitator: Dr Cicely Roche

Keynote presentations were given by Prof Kathleen Yancey (FSU, ePortfolio-as-Curriculum: Models and Practices for Developing Students' ePortfolio Literacy) and Prof Tracy Penny Light (SGU, ‘Documenting Learning with ePortfolios: A Guide for College Instructors’). The event was interspersed with interactive presentations facilitated by Aisling Reast (Hibernia College, Registrar) and Dr Orna Farrell (DCU). The symposium heard from students Laine Abria (TCD) and Alex McKibben (RCSI), who were mid-way through a 16-week experiential placement in 'role emerging education' (Preceptor Dr Cicely Roche) as part of their 4th year studies. Laine and Alex explored the concept of ePortfolios, in the context of experiential learning and from the student's perspective, and shared their findings and observations with speakers and attendees.
