Research Interests

I am investigating the positive and negative effects of aquaculture on native ecology through the development of a sustainability index that assesses the biodiversity and sediment profiles with associated systems, providing important baseline data. The effects of climate change on commercially valuable shellfish species produced through aquaculture will be studied using mesocosms and from this suitable recommendations will be suggested for the aquaculture industry. As my project progresses the development of the sustainability index will then be used to test for generality of findings at an international scale by direct comparisons of aquaculture platforms of similar species under different climatic and oceanic regimes HI.
