Foundation Scholarship
Foundation scholarship is a College institution with a long history and high prestige, and is a distinctive feature of student life at Trinity.
In order to be a candidate for Foundation Scholarship you must be a Senior Freshman student who completes the required application form for Foundation Scholarship available through Academic Registry - Foundation Scholarship from 9:00 a.m. 2 October 2023 to 5:00 p.m., 16 October 2023. You will also be required to submit an online confirmation of attendance. This form will be available from 9:00 a.m. 13 November 2023 to 5:00 p.m., 20 November 2023.
Trinity Joint Honours students interested in applying for Foundation Scholarship in the Academic Year 2023/2024 should be aware that students on Trinity Joint Honours programmes will be required to take 4 examinations and the pathway they have chosen for their studies in SF year will influence the structure of their Foundation Scholarship Examinations.
Students on the Joint Honours pathway will take two examinations in each of their subjects. Please see Foundation Scholarship 2023-24 - Trinity Joint Honours - Joint Honours Pathways for information on examination codes to be used when completing the application form.
Students on the Major with Minor pathway will choose one of two exam structures available as outlined in Foundation Scholarship 2023-24 - Trinity Joint Honours - Major with Minor Pathways- the examination codes necessary for completing the application form are also available here.
Students on the Single Honours pathway, who have dropped one of their subjects in as of the start of SF year, will take 3 examinations in their 'Single Honours' subject and 1 examination in their dropped subject. Students who entered Trinity Joint Honours via Economics and Mathematics should see Foundation Scholarship 2023-24 - Trinity Joint Honours - Economics and Mathematics for examination codes and structures.
In preparing for Foundation Scholarship students often find past papers a valuable resource and we would encourage students in Trinity Joint Honours to attend any events hosted by our colleagues in their department(s) of study. There will be an information session hosted by the UCAO at 11 am on Wednesday 4th October in the Robert Emmett Theatre.

Foundation Scholarship Examinations for 2023-24 will take place from Monday, 8 January 2024 - Friday, 12 January 2024 - please note it may be necessary to schedule some examinations in the preceding week. Further details on Foundation Scholarship is hosted by our colleagues in Academic Registry.
If you have previously confirmed your attendance to the Foundation Scholarship but are now unable to sit the examinations, please use this form to indicate your withdrawal from the examinations.
The announcement of election to Scholarship will take place at 10:00 a.m., Monday, 22 April 2024.
