On Tuesday 19th September, Tangent, Trinity’s Ideas Workspace, will host Willem-Frederik Metzelaar, Head of EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Hub West, and Kristy Tong, Partner Engagement Officer, EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Hub West.

This roundtable meeting aims to convene Ireland’s key stakeholders in Transport and Mobility to discuss a potential partnership aimed at supporting and further strengthening Ireland’s national, regional and local efforts to achieve the national sustainable mobility transition goals. The goal is to identify avenues of collaboration between EIT Urban Mobility and Ireland’s National Bodies.

To initiate the meeting, Willem-Frederik Metzelaar (Head of Innovation Hub West) will first present EIT Urban Mobility’s “Ireland Engagement Plan”. This plan outlines a collaborative process with Irish cities and rural communities, businesses, policymakers, researchers, and citizens to create and implement tailored programs. The plan further covers key topics including financing, providing specialists, testing-at-scale, and facilitating the implementation of innovative solutions.

Following the presentation, the floor will be opened for discussions, questions, and feedback. The second half of the meeting will transition into a roundtable format to discuss priorities of the sustainable mobility agenda at the national, regional, and local county levels. These discussions will be linked to the 35 pathfinder projects and the opportunities and challenges that arose throughout the process.

The meeting will be attended by key representatives and stakeholders across Ireland’s Transport and Mobility sector including Department of Transport, Smart Dublin, Enterprise Ireland and Local Government Management Agency (LGMA).
