On April 11th 2025, Peace Studies PhD candidate Alexandra Richardson co-hosted a launch event at Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre with Dr Jamie J. Hagen (Manchester University) to mark the publication of the "Next Steps for LGBTQ+ Engagement in WPS Practice in Ireland" (Richardson and Hagen, 2025). This report reflected on the findings of a workshop held in our School last December, “Queering the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda,” which brought together academics, practitioners, civil society representatives, and policymakers to discuss 'Queering the women, peace, and security: a practice-based toolkit' by Dr Jamie J. Hagen et al. The launch of this 'Next Steps' report took place at Outhouse, Dublin. It adopted a drop-in format, encouraging participants and members of the public to engage with the outcome report’s key recommendations, which focus on integrating LGBTQ+ perspectives into the future implementation of Ireland’s WPS National Action Plans (NAPs). The event was geared toward fostering new dialogues on the intersections of LGBTQ+ inclusion, peacebuilding, and gender-justice within Irish and UN frameworks.
