Welcome to the homepage of The Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Middle Eastern Studies in Trinity College. This is an interdisciplinary, outward facing centre providing a hub for colleagues across the University, the wider academic community in Ireland, and an international community of scholars dedicated to research in the area of the Middle East from antiquity to the present.

The centre aims to establish national and international networks, offering workshops and research seminars through international webinars. It seeks to engage the public and the wider community in an effort to promote the academic study of the Middle East leading to a greater appreciation of its cultures, regions and peoples.

NEW Online Masters of Philosophy, The Middle East in a Global Context.

The MPhil in The Middle East in a Global Context is a new online taught Masters course, offered by the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Studies at Trinity College Dublin in partnership with the Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education.  Please click here for further information.

The Department of Near and Middle Eastern Studies and colleagues and researchers of the Al Maktoum Centre for Middle Eastern Studies Trinity College Dublin,  offer sincere condolences to the family of His Highness Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum who passed away this week. His Foundation's work in building bridges between communities and in fostering understanding will no doubt continue to play a vital role in all our futures. His Commitment to educating the poorest in our societies is exemplary. His generous gifts to Trinity College Dublin have enabled us to develop the teaching and research area of Middle Eastern Studies, and thereby contribute to the growth of understanding between communities.
