This public lecture introduces the audience to one of the most fascinating figures from the ancient world: the Mesopotamian goddess Inanna, who entered the Underworld and escaped alive.

The lecture will be given by Professor Andrew George FBA, a world leader in Mesopotamian Studies, and draws on his recent Leverhulme-funded research.

This lecture will take place in the Neill Lecture Theatre, Trinity Long Room Hub on Thursday, 23 October at 5.30pm. This event will be in-person and not recorded or livestreamed. No booking required.
