Biography

After receiving his PhD from the Pushkin Institute of Russian Studies in Moscow, Dmitri lectured at the University of Tartu in Estonia. He later moved to Ireland to take up a post at the Trade Management Institute in Blackrock, Co. Dublin. The Institute was established by the Irish-American group EGB Management Ltd., a subsidiary of the General Atlantic Group whose founding director was Charles (Chuck) F. Feeney. At the Institute, Dmitri was responsible for the development and implementation of the intensive program in Business Russian and International Commerce, designed to prepare Irish university graduates for careers in Russia. He was also a guest lecturer for the Master of Arts Program in European Union Studies in the Department of Modern History at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. His subject area was "Central and Eastern Europe: Prospects, Problems and Future Relationship with the EU". Dmitri supervised MA dissertations and essays relating to the preparation of the CEE countries for EU accession. In October 1992, the Business Studies and a Language (Russian) degree program was initiated at Trinity College Dublin. This program is designed to provide students with the business and linguistic skills and cultural knowledge necessary to communicate and operate successfully in the commercial environment of modern Russia. Since 2000, Dmitri has been the lead lecturer and coordinator for this interdisciplinary program. He initiated and developed a collaborative working relationship with the Graduate School of Management (GSOM) at St. Petersburg State University. Until 2022, Dmitri was responsible for the administration and coordination of international exchanges between the GSOM and Trinity Business School. Over years, more that 170 TCD students participated in this exchange program. In 2022, Dmitri facilitated the launch of a new exchange partnership between TCD and the School of Humanities, Tallinn University, Estonia.
