Memorandum of Understanding Signed by Trinity College and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Posted on 10 June 2015
Provost Patrick Prendergast of Trinity College Dublin and President Menahem Ben Sasson of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem signed the agreement on 8 June 2015 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem campus in Givat Ram, which was the culmination of the visit by Trinity to Israel. This MoU will enhance engagement between the two institutions allowing for exchange of students/faculty and for joint research projects.
The MoU signing formed but part of the overall visit to Israel. While there, the Provost also attended the Joint Symposium TBSI-Weizmann Institute of Science at the Weizmann Institute located in Rehovot. This was the second such conference following the hugely successful inaugural conference in Dublin last year. The Trinity delegation also met with the Irish Ambassador to Israel, Ambassador Eamonn McKee, and Trinity Alumni in the region as well as other parties with whom Trinity engages.
This partnership with Hebrew University of Jerusalem reflects Trinity's commitment to deeper engagement in the region.
Following the signing of this memorandum, in June 2016 Trinity was awarded an EU funded Erasmus+ international mobility award of €76,328 which allows for the exchange of staff and students between the two universities over the next two years
