Trinity Awarded Certificate for Outstanding International Student Satisfaction
Posted on 13 November 2013
International higher education website StudyPortals has released the results of its first study of international student satisfaction among European institutions. Trinity College Dublin has been honoured with gold award for Ireland, earning the country’s only Certificate of Outstanding Student Satisfaction. Results were drawn from the Student Exchange Platform (STeXX), a social platform where students can share their study experiences and review their universities. Only twenty institutions in Europe achieved the “Outstanding” designation.
Unlike other university rankings, StudyPortals’ International Student Satisfaction awards are based on thousands of reviews and opinions from international students in Europe. Among the Irish universities that received sufficient reviews of international students to be eligible for the International Student Satisfaction Awards, a total of seven universities received ratings ranging from "very good" (at least 8 out of 10) to "outstanding" (at least 9.5 out of 10). The awards were issued as part of StudyPortals’ report, “Key influencers of international student satisfaction in Europe.”
In order to be eligible for an award, universities need to receive at least twenty reviews on the Student Exchange Platform. Although four universities in Ireland qualified for “excellent” international student satisfaction status by achieving average scores of at least nine out of ten, Trinity College Dublin was the only institution to receive the highest honour. Trinity College Dublin uses many methods to measure international student satisfaction. The recent opening of the Trinity Global Room adds another resource to a growing list of support services available to students who are far from home.
