PhD Research

Caoimhe is a Research Assistant in the Piggott Lab with an interest in freshwater biology and parasitology. She is assisting on projects relating to multiple stressors in freshwater ecosystems, particularly the ExStream 2023 Project. Caoimhe graduated with a Second Class Honours First Division undergraduate degree in Zoology from Trinity College Dublin in 2023. She completed her thesis, Vertical profile of soil carbon among shore elevations and vegetation communities at Turvey Nature Reserve, under the supervision of Dr Piggott and Dr Marcin Penk. She hopes to publish the findings of her thesis during her time in the Zoology Department, and to further her education by pursuing a PhD potentially relating to parasitology in freshwater ecosystems.
