Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe with a rich cultural and historic heritage; it has captured the attention of the world in recent history and current times.  Ukrainian language is native tongue to over 50 million people worldwide and has a strong and growing identity.

There are an estimated 41 million native speakers of Ukrainian worldwide. In the republic of Ireland there are over 8,000 native speakers (as recorded in the Census of Population 2022, compiled by the Central Statistics Office).

Courses are run in Ukrainian language at the Beginners, Lower Intermediate, and Intermediate/Advanced levels, depending on demand.

Duration: Each course runs for 22 weeks (2 hours once a week) spread over two terms – autumn (starting mid-September) and winter/ spring (starting January).

Time and Place:
All the classes will take place on College campus in Dublin city centre from 6:30 - 8:30pm. The day of the week depends on the course level as outlined below. Learners will receive venue information closer to the course commencement date.

Fee:€660 for 22-week course. This fee is non-refundable once the course has commenced. 

Course Dates: Class dates/times are subject to minor changes in rare circumstances and students will be given the maximum notice possible if this unlikely situation arises. The specific day of the week of your classes will depend on the level course you join. 

* Beginners’ classes take place on Wednesdays from 16 September 2026 – 7 April 2027 with scheduled break weeks on these dates: 28 October, 9 – 30 December 2026, 6 January 2027, 3 and 17 March 2027.

* Lower intermediate classes take place on Thursdays from 24 September 2026 – 8 April 2027 with scheduled break weeks on these dates: 29 October 2026, 10 – 31 December 2026, 7 January 2027, and 4 March 2027.

* Intermediate/advanced classes take place on Tuesdays from 22 September 2026 – 6 April 2027 with scheduled break weeks on these dates: 27 October 2026, 8 – 29 December 2026, 5 January 2027, and 2 March 2027.

All classes take place from 6:30 - 8:30pm.

 

How do I register and pay for the course?

1) Please first pay for your course via the PayPal link below.

2) Next, you will receive a formal application after your payment has been processed and received by the Evening Course Administrator. This process can take a few business days.

3) Upon successful completion of the application, you will receive confirmation of your enrolment via email with classroom and other details nearer the start date.

Please note: Owing to staff annual leave, you may experience some additional delay in receiving the full application form if you pay the course fee between late July - mid-August. 

Important Notes:

You must be 18 years of age or older to enrol in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies evening courses.

For post-beginner levels, you must receive permission of the instructor and the evening course administrator to confirm your level before finalising enrolment. 

New intake of students will not be available in January unless interested applicants have the necessary language skills to join a continuing group. In this case, permission must be confirmed by the instructor and the evening course administrator.

Fees are non-refundable once a course has commenced.  

All courses are offered subject to minimum and maximum registration numbers.

Please note that participation in the evening course does not include access to the Trinity Library or other student services.
