The Department of Russian and Slavonic Studies will run Polish language and culture courses.

Over 37 million people worldwide speak Polish as their mother tongue. The Central Statistics Office 2022 Census recorded over 124,000 Polish speakers in the Irish state.
In the republic of Ireland there are over 124,000 Polish speakers (as recorded in the Census of Population 2022, compiled by the Central Statistics Office), and it is the largest minority community in the state.
Complete Beginner Polish Intensive Course (A1 level, 30 Hours) PDF
This intensive 30-hour course is designed for absolute beginners with no prior knowledge of Polish. It introduces the alphabet, focusing on sound–letter correspondence, pronunciation, and the development of basic reading skills. Elements of Polish culture are integrated throughout, providing learners with insights into everyday life, traditions, social norms, and contemporary cultural practices.
Pre-Intermediate Polish Intensive Course (A2 level, 30 Hours) PDF
This intensive course consists of 30 contact hours and is designed for students who have completed A1 level or possess basic knowledge of Polish. It aims to consolidate foundational grammar and expand communicative competence, helping learners move towards greater fluency and confidence in everyday situations. The course integrates elements of Polish culture, providing learners with insights into everyday life, traditions, social norms, and contemporary cultural practices.
Duration: Each course contains 30 hours instruction within June 2026.
Time and Place: Classes take place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Please see the specific schedule in the attached enrolment information below. All the classes will take place on College campus in Dublin city centre. Learners will receive venue information closer to the course commencement date.
Fee: €450 for each summer language course. This fee is non-refundable once the course has commenced.
Course Dates: Class dates/times are subject to minor changes in rare circumstances and students will be given the maximum notice possible if this unlikely situation arises.

1) Please first pay for your course via the PayPal link below.
2) Next, you will receive a formal application after your payment has been processed and received by the Evening Course Administrator. This process can take a few business days.
3) Upon successful completion of the application, you will receive confirmation of your enrolment via email with classroom and other details nearer the start date.

Important Notes:
For post-beginner levels, you must receive permission of the instructor and the evening course administrator to confirm your level before finalising enrolment.
Fees are non-refundable once a course has commenced.
All courses are offered subject to minimum and maximum registration numbers.
Please note that participation in the evening course does not include access to the Trinity Library or other student services.
