Student Sport Volunteer Programme

September 2014

The Department of Sport and Recreation have put together an exciting Volunteering Programme open to all students which offers the opportunity to volunteer on events and programmes run in a dynamic, fast paced, student centred environment. To ensure that volunteers are equipped to be part of the Sport team they will be offering training to compliment the volunteer opportunities. Click on the programme site for more information. If you want to take part click to apply.

Each opportunity has corresponding training that should be undertaken to ensure that volunteers gets the best support and have a positive experience. There are 2 core training modules that are the cornerstones for all other training:

  • Inclusion Training
  • Leadership and Communication Skills

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved regardless of the amount of time that you have to spare – a few hours for a once off event or a few hours weekly. You don’t need to be a regular gym user or a sports club member,  if you’re willing and enthusiastic you’ll fit right in! Sport would be delighted to see as many students as possible become involved and have a bit of craic along the way. Don’t forget that you can use this volunteering opportunity when applying for the Dean’s Roll of Honour. If you have any queries please contact Caroline Duggan, Senior Sports Development Officer, 01-8964859 or
