Details of what components/modules you need to be reassessed in will be on the portal with your results. If you have any queries on your requirements please contact your Department(s) in the first instance.

Absence from an assessment without permission

2021/22 Information
Annual Session (Semesters 1 and 2): Students who are absent from an examination/do not submit an assessment by the deadline during the Annual session, and do not have permission from either the Senior Lecturer (Student Cases) or the TSM Course Office, may be required to be reassessed at the Reassessment Session 2022. This will be considered a second attempt.

Reassessment Session: Students who are absent from an examination/do not submit an assessment by the deadline during the Reassessment Session, and do not have permission from either the Senior Lecturer (Student Cases) or the TSM Course Office, may be excluded from the Course and may not be permitted to repeat the year.

Important: Students who have a reason for their absence/missed assessment deadline during either of the Assessment sessions, should contact their Tutor (or Senior Tutor if their Tutor isn’t available) as a matter of urgency and ideally within three days of the missed exam/deadline.  It may be possible to apply for permission to defer or repeat the year depending on the session.

Deferred Assessments

Students with permission to defer to the Reassessment Session will take that assessment as a first attempt.

Reviewing Scripts and Results post-Publication

All students are entitled to review their scripts or discuss their performance etc. with their relevant departments. Please contact your Department following publication for details on how to do this.

Repeating the Year

Students with concerns about their results are advised to contact their tutor in the first instance as soon as possible. Students who have an overall Fail result following the Reassessment Session may be permitted to repeat the year in full depending on their status. Students are not permitted to repeat any year of the Course more than once and not repeat more than two academic years within the Course. Students permitted to repeat the year are required to repeat the year in full.

Absent/Non Submission without permission: Students who are absent from an examination/do not submit an assessment by the deadline during the Reassessment Session, and do not have permission from either the Senior Lecturer (Student Cases) or the TSM Course Office, may be excluded from the Course and may not be permitted to repeat the year.

TSM to TJH: As any TSM SS student repeating the year in 2022/23 will be moved to the TJH Programme, if repeating in full, the subject(s) repeated will be dependent on the chosen eligible TJH pathway being followed in the repeat year. Any student returning from being OBN or with permission to be readmitted, their repeat year will be dependent on the eligible pathway being followed.

Repeating Off Books (OBA): Students with permission to repeat the year, may apply to repeat the year Off Books with Assessment (OBA) if they were following Pattern B or C in SS TSM, and the amount of module credits to be repeated does not exceed 20 ects. OBA applications must be made via the student's Tutor to Student Cases. Such students will also be restricted in the TJH Pathway they may choose. SS TSM Pattern A students may not repeat the year OBA as there is no equivalent course structure in the TJH Programme. Further information is available on the TSM to TJH Process on this website.

TSM Prizes awarded by the Two-Subject Moderatorship Court of Examiners’ Meeting will be published on this site and by Academic Registry.

How are TSM Results processed?

Each student’s module results are compiled for each of their TSM subjects at the departmental level. Following the Annual assessment Session (Semester 2) and Reassessment Session, the TSM Course Office combines all TSM student module and subject results and calculates the overall Course result and decision. The TSM Course result and progression decision for all TSM students are put before the relevant TSM Court of Examiners' meeting for approval. Each TSM Subject/Department is represented and the meetings are chaired by the ADUCA. Following these meetings, the overall Course result and progression decision for each student for that assessment session are published on the portal my.tcd.ie. (The TSM Course Office does not give out results by email or phone).
