Travel Bursary Report March 2026 - Martin Holohan Jr

Martin is a PhD candidate in the School of Law researching legal liability for AI-related harms.

He presented his talk ‘Criminal liability and deep fakes: Fostering digital resilience alongside the imposition of criminal sanctions for AI-related harm’ at the British Society of Criminology Conference 2026, with one of the sub-themes of the conference being ‘Justice in a digital age.’

The British Society of Criminology Conference, hosted this year by Nottingham Trent University, is considered one of the primary forums for criminological scholarship, as the event brings together academics, policymakers and practitioners from various backgrounds to discuss pressing topics in the area.

Martin said presenting his work at the conference provided an important opportunity for expert academic feedback along and comparative law perspectives. He extends his thanks to Trinity Research in Social Sciences for supporting his attendance at the conference via the funding award.
