TRiSS Economics PhD Researchers win Best Paper Prizes 

Congratulations to TRISS Economics PhD students, Doireann O'Brien who was been awarded the Denis Conniffe Prize, and Bhavya Shrivastava who was presented with the Irish Society for Women in Economics (ISWE) Prize, at this year's Irish Economics Association conference (May 2025).

The Conniffe Prize is awarded to the Best Paper by a Young Economist at the conference every year.

Speaking about her award, Ms O'Brien said, "I am extremely grateful to the IEA for presenting me with this award. I would like to sincerely thank my supervisors, Professor Selim Gulesci and Professor Nicola Fontana , as well as the everyone at the Department of Economics for their invaluable guidance throughout."

"I am especially thankful to Christina Lysaght, Professon Ronan Lyons, and all at TRiSS for creating such a supportive office environment."

The ISWE Prize recognises the best paper presented by a femal economist at the conference.

Ms Shrivastava said, "I am grateful to the ISWE for recognising my work. I would like to thank my supervisor, Professor Michael King and all members of the Department of Economics for their constant support and valuable feedback."
