The Department of Economics at Trinity College Dublin, in association with Trinity Research in Social Sciences (TRiSS), is pleased to invite you to a talk by Dr Tyler Goodspeed (Oxford):

Skin in the Game: Extended Liability, Contingent Capital, and Financial Stability.

 

In "Skin in the Game: Liability Insurance, Contingent Capital, and Financial Stability," I use spatial discontinuities in antebellum U.S. bank regulation to analyze the effects of public liability insurance, extended liability, and branch banking laws on financial stability and American industrial and infrastructural development.

About the Speaker

Dr Tyler Goodspeed is Junior Research Fellow in Economics at the University of Oxford. His interests include economic history, monetary economics, political economy, and development, with current work focused especially on the development of the British and North American economies in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and the political economy of financial regulation and shareholder liability.
