Working Title of PhD: Growing Up Alone with Domestic Violence and Abuse: Risk and Protective Factors in Life-Course Transitions among China’s One-Child Policy Generation
Description of Research
Haocheng’s PhD research examines how young adults from China’s One-Child Policy generation who grew up living with domestic violence and abuse (DVA) navigate key transitions into adulthood. Using a life-course perspective, the study explores how childhood experiences, family relationships, and risk and protective factors shape pathways through education, employment, intimate relationships and family formation, with particular attention to growing up without sibling support. Haocheng previously completed an MSc in Applied Social Research in the School of Social Work and Social Policy at Trinity College Dublin. His broader background includes experience in women’s and children’s rights protection at provincial level and in a national news organisation in China.
