Interprofessional Practice for Social Work

As part of the Interprofessional Practice for Social Work module on the Bachelor in Social Studies (Social Work) programme, delivered this year by Dr Sorcha O’Keeffe, fourth-year students participated in a range of Interprofessional Learning and Collaboration activities beyond the classroom.

Favour Isijola represented Trinity College Dublin at the All‑Ireland Interprofessional Healthcare Challenge for Students (AIPEC), held in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Favour represented the discipline of Social Work within an interdisciplinary team tasked with developing a patient management plan for a complex case scenario.

Cian McGuire and Sadhbh Roche undertook a student leadership initiative and represented Social Work at an Interprofessional Learning Workshop in the Trinity Centre for Health Sciences at St James’s Hospital. Cian and Sadhbh delivered a session to Physiotherapy students on the role of Social Work within interdisciplinary teams.

Throughout the module, students also benefited from a guest lecture delivered by Dr Vincent Healy, Neurosurgery Specialist Registrar at Beaumont Hospital, and participated in a collaborative learning session with fourth‑year Occupational Therapy students. The module is supported by the Interprofessional Learning and Education Committee within the Faculty of Health Sciences.
